After watching "Lost Treasures of Afghanistan" I was shocked. Seeing what the Taliban had done to the history and culture of Afghanistan was terrifying. They destroyed art work and statues without a single regard to what the Afghan people thought. To see how a group of people could destroy a culture so easily shows us that everything could be lost in an instance.

I found the film to be very upsetting. I can not understand how the Taliban government could destroy such a large amount of the country's beautiful history. It wasnt only the beauty of the works but their importance. Afghanistan is very close to the fertile cresent the begging of all modern civilization, the findings there are not just significant to the afghans but the the entire world. It really feels as if they closed a large part of the already small window that we have into our past.

"Lost Treasures of Afganistan" was a shoking video. As i was watching the documentary i could not believe that the Taliban goverment was capable of deestroying so many years of history of Afganistan. All the pictures and sculptures that they ruined were the heritage of next genertions to come. The art work represented the life of many Afgan people and now it has all been lost.

As I watched the film, I noticed something that may or may not have been the intent of the film. Although I am rather critical of the media, specially when it comes to affairs that would surely be influenced by this great government of ours, I have had a bleak image of the Afghan and Middle Eastern peoples in general. What little I had seen of the culture and country was poverty, lack of education or refinement, and oppresion of the individual and women's rights. As I watched this film I began to develop a whole new outlook on their way of life, I understand now that what I previously thought was all wrong. What I saw on this film was a nation that had been missrepresented and whose image had been abused by both the terrorist forces who commited that unspeakable crime on 9/11, and by our media, who depicted them in the way I once saw them.

The movie The Lost Treasure of Afghanistan is one of the best movies I've seen. Is incredible that the world still has hidden treasures. I think is amazing that the treasures survived all these years. In the movie you are going to see how the Talibans destroyed the two big budas statues. Its something terrible to see how those two master pieces were destroyed in second after thay survived thousands of years.I recommend this movie to all of you, its very interesting.

The movie was about this man who is an American from New York, who works in Afganistan who went back to try and find a piece of their history. A couple of years ago the taliban army destroyed most of thier historical sites. They destroyed tapes, pictures, statues, and movies that they had on film. Well at least they thought they did. Few of the people that lived and worked in Afganistan were brave enough to come up with ways to try and hide the art work and the films. And it worked. So this guy came back after all the madnesss had stopped and he tried to uncover one of the budas that the talibans didnt get to. It is called the sleeping buda. At the end of his dig for this year he think that he has discovered the foot of the sleeping buda but he is not able to contiune digging because he an his students are due back in school. So he just covered it back up and he will continue his dig next year.

The movie "The Lost Treasures of Afghanistan" was a true shocker. It doesn't seem real that the Taliban had so much power to destroy such precious art work and statues. It seems to me that the Afganistan people had to live a secret life while trying to hide their art work but at the same time trying to keep the spirit of art in them. It was amazing to see what extremes they went to in order to hide the arts and even "painting" over them until they were actually able to discover the real painting behind them. Im sure after the Taliban destroyed all the paintings and statues the Afghan people probably thought they had nothing left for the generations to come. I would reccommend this movie to show people that they should appreciate what they have while they have it and that their is no giving up!

I found the film very well done. It was very sad though how most of the artifacts in were either lost or destroyed. There was so much history there and now its unknown to the rest of the world do to what the Taliban government did.20-24

The film was very shocking to me. Most of the villagers lived in horrible condition and most of there sculptures were destroyed. They were abused and terrorized by the Taliban Government. I never really thought it was that bad over there. Women were treated very harsh. It makes me feel grateful to know that I live in a free country.

The film "The Lost Treasures of Afghanistan" was eye opener to me. The part that disgusted me the most was when they were talking about that the Taliban would kill everyone in the building if they found one piece of film. Another piece of the film that showed me the most courage was when the painter would paint over the "irreligious" paintings so that the Taliban couldn't tell when they would investigate the art gallery. After watching this movie,I could not believe that the Taliban had that much power to destroy art work, films and statues. It has changed my views on the people and culture in Afghanistan. It also has shown me how much damage the Taliban government has done in the past years. I highly recommend everyone watches this film.

It is sad see how afghanistan is destryoing all their values, thier backgound and their culture because some minorities believes.
I found it Disrespectful and with no moral what the goverment did.
Its hard to understand the form that the govermnet whats to rule the country but everyone has the sames values, a backgorund that it must be respect.

I have watched movies about the Middle East previously but what the Taliban is doing to the Afghan people is not right. The Taliban regime has taken the rights of the Afghan people to live, work (women), school; news broadcast and the way people go on about their day to day business. Just horrible what has happened to that Afghanistan
